Styling Like A Superstar! – coffee tables

Styling is like the icing on the cake, the cover on a book or the frame on a beautiful piece of art. It dresses the space and a room can completely transform with just the right accessories! You’ve selected your furniture and placed it so carefully but what’s missing, why is everything so flat? Accessories! Those finishing pieces could be pillows on your sofa, books and flowers in the room, items on your coffee table and shelves. I know what you’re thinking…”I’ve just spent all this money on new furnishings, I have to add accessories too!” The answer is an easy yes, but take a look around you may be able to reuse what you have already.Room no accessoriesRoom accessories

If a room isn’t styled it simply looks unfinished and all that work you put into finding those perfect pieces has left the space lacking and unpolished.

We’re going to focus on coffee tables first. There is a sort of recipe for styling a coffee table, a basis of the right ingredients but if you’re anything like me I often throw in a little of “what feels right” to make it sweeter!

The fundamental elements for the right mix include varying heights of objects, books, something alive (plant, flower), candles (spoiler alert: they work everywhere), trays, boxes, and add a touch of something personal.

Keep it simple. You know that saying about checking yourself in the mirror before you leave and remove one piece of jewelry? It’s a good practice to step away and take a look at the vignette you’ve created. Does it feel a little cluttered? Remove that extra vase or stack of books. Remember to leave some space for your guests to set a glass or if you’re like my family, to kick up your feet! It’s also a smart way to let your eye rest. Too much can be exhausting!

Your space should be a reflection of YOU, so add something personal and let it tell a story. You’ll feel more comfortable being surrounded by the things you love!
